Electronic Music and Why

I first discovered electronic music when I was about 6.  My parents used to hang out with the guy who sold most of the homes on Dillon Beach on the central coast of California.   He was a musician and  had a big beautiful room devoted to recording.  One of his toys was a Roland Jupiter 8 and he would let me play it with his state-of-the-art monitoring headphones.  The possibilities were endless.  The wall it sat against hung a huge print of "The Garden of Earthly Delights" a triptych by Hieronymus Bosch.   So I would stare at the painting for hours and design unearthly sounds with the synthesizer.

When I was 16 I bought a Roland Juno-6, a basic but vast analog synth.  I recorded it on a Tascam 4-track where I learned how to bounce tracks and create compositions with 8-10 tracks of audio.

I dabbled.

I played guitar for awhile, traveled South East Asia, came home, opened a little cafe for a little coffee company and discovered that during my break from technology, it had became possible to sequence large pieces of music on a laptop.  Within 2 weeks of that discovery, I had a laptop and spent most of my free time writing music.  Not much has changed on that front.

My music is composed honestly, without focus on genre.  I write what I feel and hope to tell little stories in people's imaginations.  I also like it when people feel compelled to dance to my music.  I will compose music for the rest of my life and I have abandoned all other artistic pursuits.

I live in Northern California and play shows every once and awhile.  Reference this site for dates and places.  I hope to see you out there.
